A crown covers a tooth that is weak or heavily restored. A bridge replaces a missing tooth by relying on neighbouring teeth. We discuss materials — including zirconia and PFM — based on the tooth’s position, the bite, and appearance, after examining the supporting teeth.

Cleaning around the margins helps prevent decay and gum inflammation. Use floss or a floss threader under a bridge as shown in the clinic. Movement or pain on biting should be reviewed.
Medical note
A bridge requires preparation of neighbouring teeth. An implant may be an alternative in some cases. No material is universally “best”; zirconia and PFM each have indications.
PFM is a metal coping covered with porcelain. Zirconia is a strong ceramic without visible metal. Strength, space, and appearance guide the choice after examination — not the material name alone.
There is no guaranteed lifespan. Bite, grinding, hygiene, and decay at the margins all matter. Regular reviews help find problems early.
